The STA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work is a one-day course designed for those who may be required to perform basic emergency first aid within the workplace. The course is ideal for those that are required to hold a first aid qualification but don’t require the more comprehensive First Aid at Work qualification.
The STA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work course is for individuals who have a specific responsibility at work to deliver basic first aid. Learners who successfully complete this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to be an allocated emergency first aider for their workplace, with the skills being transferable across a range of industries.
Learners may complete this qualification as a stepping stone to a career specifically in first aid such as a first aid tutor, alternatively they may undertake this qualification to compliment another role.
The course is comprised of a mixture of theoretical technical knowledge and practical hands on tasks to enhance the learner experience. The course covers a range of first aid incidents including: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, choking, shock, bleeding and wounds, along with other minor injuries.

This course carries a 3-year validity period, learners are encouraged to keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date through regular staff training. HSE strongly recommends first aiders undertake an annual refresher during any 3-year certificate period.
The learner is required to complete a new STA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work course before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.
