The STA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification is a one-day course designed for those who may be required to perform emergency first aid within a childcare workplace setting. The qualification covers a range of skills and procedures specific to child and infant casualties.
The STA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid course is for individuals who work or intend to work in a childcare setting. Learners who successfully complete this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to administer paediatric first aid within the workplace, with the skills being transferable across a range of industries.
Learners may complete this qualification as a stepping stone to a career specifically in first aid such as a first aid tutor, alternatively they may undertake this qualification to compliment another role.
The course is comprised of a mixture of theoretical technical knowledge and practical hands on tasks to enhance the learner experience. The course covers a range of first aid incidents which may occur in a childcare setting including: managing an unresponsive casualty, paediatric CPR, choking, shock, bleeding and wounds, along with other minor injuries.

This course carries a 3-year validity period, learners are encouraged to keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date through regular staff training. HSE strongly recommends first aiders undertake an annual refresher during any 3-year certificate period.
The learner is required to complete a new STA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid course before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.
