The STA Level 2 Award in Swimming Pool Water Treatment is designed to enable learners to understand the basic principles of the treatment of swimming pool water. The qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to competently test water and maintain safe bathing conditions.
The STA Level 2 Award in Swimming Pool Water Treatment is intended for those who may be required to complete routine pool water testing and basic tasks to maintain safe bathing conditions. Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners may complete the above tasks independently and/or may assist a level 3 pool plant operator before they embark on a full Pool Plant Operations course.
Learners may complete this qualification as a stepping stone to a career in pool maintenance and management. Alternatively, they may undertake this qualification to compliment another role.
The units cover the theory and practical skill of water testing, as well as key principles of pool plant operations and maintenance. The course is predominantly classroom based with exception of the practical task of performing a pool water test.

This course carries a 5-year validity period—learners are encouraged to ensure they keep up-to-date with industry standards and practice through current industry guidance documents and continuing professional development (CPD).
The learner is required to complete a new STA Level 2 Award in Swimming Pool Water Treatment course before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.
