The STA Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Swimming qualification expands on the teacher’s expertise to include competitive strokes, survival and rescue skills, diving, and competitive starts and turns—allowing teachers to deliver swimming lessons from non-swimmers through to advanced participants.
The STA Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Swimming provides the opportunity for holders of the STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming to expand on their knowledge and skill set to include advanced swimming stroke techniques and aquatic skills.

Learners may complete this qualification for a career specifically in swimming teaching. Alternatively they may undertake this qualification to compliment another role.
The course is comprised of a mixture of theory and practical elements, enabling the learner to acquire the advanced technical knowledge and practical hands on experience of delivering lessons to advanced participants.
Learners will acquire the skills required to plan, deliver, assess and evaluate a series of progressive swimming lessons for groups of up to 20 advanced participants.

On the final day, the learners will complete an external assessment which comprises of a theory multiple-choice assessment paper and a 30-minute practical lesson to a minimum of 4 advanced participants.
This course does not carry an expiry date—instead learners are encouraged to keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date through completion of continuing professional development (CPD).
